Dravidian catharsis 2005-2018

In Tamil Nadu, in southern India, the most distant and ancient traditions have remained intact more than anywhere else. The powerful presences of spirits and living gods are embodied under masks, in the bodies that surrender during the rite and in the animal remains during sacrifices ...
Characters who no longer know whether they are men, gods or spirits, emerge in their evidence, real and divine, natural and supernatural. Men and women in a trance sink into darkness in full light; they do not belong to them, they are collective, staged or free. Individualistic psychology gives way to a large common body which vibrates in unison.
Dravidian Catharsis is the fruit of this deep immersion in the culture, the theater, the traditions, and the soul of this mythological universe of the Tamil people.
